If you're in need of an online journal, and maybe a little more, check out Tabulas.com. I'm not using it right now, but I've looked through the site and it seems really groovy.

It's basically like Livejournal, Xanga etc., except that in a addition to having a blog and friends page, you can make other pages as well with your own content. According to their features page, you also have complete control over your layout, and you also get a gallery.

Since you have to register an account with them before they'll tell you about the differences between a free and paid account, I'll list them here for you:

It's roughly $3 a month, and you can pay in 3 month increments (paypal is accepted)

You can create content pages with a free account; there doesn't seem to be a limit

Radio is only for paid users

Free users can join 4 communities and create only 1 community account

Free users can create one template and color scheme each (lets you edit complete HTML and styles)

Free users have Google ads on their pages

80s commercials

These guys plugged their site on my Brushes site, so I headed over to check out what they've got, and I found...TV commercials from the 80s!!! They've even got the one for Stretch Armstrong (towards the bottom).

The rest of their site is strangely reminiscent of all those Bill and Ted's movies from way back, not unsurprisingly. To tell the truth, I have not checked out their videos--I'm a bit scared to--but the rest of the stuff (especially their 80s TVs and Movies section) is pretty entertaining.

You can find the strangest things by typing various phrases into Google, especially if you include words like "goth," "monkey," and "Burma-Shave."

Remember those games where you'd fill out the blanks and then stick them into a story to get an outrageous story that didn't make any sense? An Adjective, a noun, 2 pronouns, etc? Remember filling them all in with dirty words?
I found one that makes Alanis Morisette songs. Oh how I love the brunching shuttlecocks.

I also found a goth lyric generator, one of the many thousands on the net, and one that does general lyrics.

Here's a guy who thinks Internet Joke Haikus should be destroyed. Hmph. I think most internet humor should be destroyed.

Fiftiesweb has a page dedicated to all of those Burma-shave sign poems that were the precursors to billboards (if only they were still that charming). Fun stuff to read through.

This is pretty cool, and although I don't really want it on my computer (not enough space left on my crappy harddrive), it sounds like it would really work well for someone who frequently sends and recieves files.

It's an open source cross-platform word processor that can support MS Word, WordPerfect, and many other formats. That's the cool part--how many times have you recived a file from someone that you can't open because they didn't think to save it in a format that could be read by anyone (.rtf, .txt, etc)? AbiWord, you rock.

Interesting little webzine dedicated to goth music. I pulled this one up when I was doing a google search for a Carfax Abbey song.

If you like that, check out AsleepbyDawn.com. There's not much on their page, really, but you can sign up to recieve their free magazine, and by looking at the list of articles they've had in past issues, it looks good. I have yet to send in my address to them, mostly because I'm wondering about how badly my family would freak out when it arrived in the mail.
